SOPs help clients and teams repeat work without relying on memory. AI can speed up the first draft, but the final SOP should be tested by a person.
Step 1: Describe the task
Start with the task name, purpose, tools used, inputs needed, and expected output. Keep private client information out of the prompt.
Step 2: List the rough steps
Write the steps in plain language, even if they are messy. AI is better at organizing rough notes than guessing a process from nothing.
Step 3: Ask for structure
Ask AI to turn the notes into sections such as purpose, owner, tools, steps, quality checks, and common mistakes.
Step 4: Add review points
Every SOP should include points where a person checks accuracy, privacy, tone, or client-specific preferences.
Step 5: Test the SOP
Run the task using the SOP. Fix missing steps, unclear wording, and tool-specific details before sharing it with a client.
